From 19 March 2016 to 24 July 2016

'From Kandinsky to Jackson Pollock exhibition. The great art of the Guggenheim': this art exhibition in Florence at the Strozzi Palazzo exhibitions will open its doors to the public from 19 March to 24 July 2016. More than one hundred European and American masterpieces of art, made between 1920 and 1960, will be on display - providing an interesting journey rebuilding the ties between the two sides of the ocean, through two unforgettable figures: Peggy and Solomon Guggenheim.

The sculptures, engravings, paintings and photographs featured in this new Pollock exhibition in Florence - coming from the Guggenheim in Venice and New York and other prestigious international museums - give visitors a glimpse of the incredible and rich art period of the 20th century that had among the main protagonists, the two US collectors.

The Kandinsky exhibition in Florence tells in a very engaging way the rise of the neo avant-garde after World War II through the constant relationship between European and American artists. The decision to set it up in Florence, wants to be a kind of homage to the bond between the beautiful location and Peggy Guggenheim which takes us back in time. In fact, in 1949 the collector chose Palazzo Strozzi to expose this exhibition which will later be held in  Venice for its final location.

Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, this extraordinary art exhibition in Florence is a collaboration between the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation and the Solomon Guggenheim Foundation of New York. The tried and tested collaboration between the many institutions linked to the world of art, gives rise to really interesting projects and in this case, makes public a precious fragment of contemporary art of the 20th century.

Among the art exhibitions in Florence in 2016, do not miss 'From Kandinsky to Jackson Pollock exhibition', a magnificent comparison between the works of the most respected masters of modern art in Europe: for example, Pablo Picasso (the world renowned Spanish artist, considered one of the masters painting of the 20th century), Marcel Duchamp (painter, sculptor and French chess conceptual art advocate), Man Ray (painter, photographer and film director as well as a great exponent of Dadaism) and the so nicknamed 'Europe's informal' amongst whom we have Italian Alberto Burri and Lucio Fontana (who shared a commitment to seek in art the expressive qualities of matter) and Emilio Vedova, the Venetian painter and printmaker whose artistic career was characterized by a constant desire to research and be innovate.

To enrich the Kandkinsky exhibition 2016, the sculptures and the paintings of the most famous representatives of American art of the 50s and 60s: Vasilij Kandkinsky, Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, Cy Twombly and Roy Lichtenstein, to name a few. 'From Kandinsky to Pollock exhibition': in Florence, a comparison of art that should not be missed!

Against the backdrop of a historic building such as Palazzo Strozzi exhibitions have a really fascinating atmosphere: on this occasion, the exhibition will be made even more exciting by a clever play of light and space capable of contrasting the geographical distance of the protagonists to the proximity of their thoughts and their creativity, which led them to create magnificent works of art appreciated even today around the world.
