September 24 was the opening date for the Divine beauty exhibition in Florence, one of the most anticipated exhibitions at Palazzo Stozzi in Florence in 2015, entitled 'Divine Beauty with Van Gogh, Chagall e Fontana'.
The Strozzi exhibition, open to the public until 24 January 2016, wants to be a deep reflection on the relationship that has always linked art to divine and spirituality, putting an accent on the difficulties that, between 1800s and mid 1900s, badly cracked that bond.

In this extraordinary exhibition at Palace Strozzi in Florence, there will be more than one hundred works on display: the masterpieces of the most famous Italian and international artists, such as Guttuso, Fontana, Vedova and Van Gogh, will help visitors to analyze and understand a century of sacred modern art.

The seven sections of the 'Divine Beauty' exhibition in Florence, one of the most interesting art exhibitions in Tuscany, will retrace the various stages that characterized the difficult comparisons between art and sacred between the mid-19th and mid-20th century.

Over the last century, the lines of interpretation used in the representation of sacred art have been very diverse, as evidenced by the many works on display in this fascinating exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Firenze, beginning with the narrative and naturalist style of the late 19th century, passing through the pursuit of realism, the Symbolist current of the early 20th century, up to the abstract and sometimes controversial interpretation of the mid-20th century.

Visiting the exhibition 'Divine beauty of Van Gogh, Chagall and Fontana' at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florenze you will admire the works of art of the most famous Italian painters, such as Gaetano Previati, Domenico Morelli, Gino Severini, Felice Casorati, Emilio Vedova, Lucio Fontana and Renato Guttuso, and those of memorable international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Max Ernst, Henri Matisse, Stanley Spencer, Jean-François Millet and Georges Rouault.

The different sections of this unmissable exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence address the main issues of artistic and religious reflection, giving the visitor the opportunity to contemplate the most famous works of art from a new perspective, comparing them with the work of artists surely less known but that, through their work, have greatly contributed to the rich panorama of modern art.

The 'Divine Beauty' exhibition in Florence features works of great art, like 'La Pieta' by Van Gogh from the Vatican Museums, Angelus by Jean-François Millet, loaned in very exceptional circumstances from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, 'The White Crucifixion' of March Chagall from the Art Institute of Chicago and 'The Crucifixion' by Renato Guttuso, loan from the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome which should not be missed at the exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence!

The 'Divine beauty exhibition in Florence of Van Gogh, Chagall and Fountain' is part of the calendar of events organized for the V National Congress, held in Florence in November, which will also be attended by Pope Francis.

Curated by Lucia Mannini, Anna Mazzanti, Carlo Sisi and Ludovica Sebregondi, the current exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi was born thanks to the collaboration between the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi mostre and the Archdiocese, the Superintendence of Florence and the Vatican Museums.

The 'Divine Beauty' exhibition in Florence has inspired an important synergy between the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore to create an unprecedented journey to discover the places and the works of the city of Florence and Tuscany. With a joint ticket you can visit, in addition to the exhibition, the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the new Cathedral Museum, taking part in an extraordinary journey through time from the Middle Ages to modern times, a profound reflection of the sacred and art offered by masterpieces that have made the history of Florence: 'La Pieta' by Van Gogh, 'Bandini Pieta' by Michelangelo, 'Penitent Magdalene' by the great Donatello and 'Crucifixion' by Guttuso, 'Cantoria' of Luca della Robbia and 'The Angelus' of Millet.

Included in the calendar of art exhibitions in Florence, the 'Divine Beauty' exhibition in Florence, with Van Gogh, Chagall and Fontana' awaits you at Palazzo Forti from 24 September 2015 to 24 January 2016. Do not miss it!
